LNG terminal in Cyprus in 2030

Rystad Energy firm sees an LNG terminal in Cyprus in 2030. The capabilities of LNG terminal at Idku might be exceeded with new gas discoveries offshore Cyprus. The key reserves needed for an LNG terminal in Cyprus is 12.5 tcf. Reminding that Calypso is estimated to have 6-8 tcf and Glafcos 5-8 tcf.
Cyprus has already granted the approval from the EU to build a pipeline from Aphrodite in Block 12 to Egypt and LNG terminal of Idku and an agreement exists for exporting these quantities to Europe. Shell plays an important role in these advancements with their shares both in Idku and Aphrodite.
